Rebates

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist at MAX Health.

If you have a referral from your GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist as part of your Mental Health Treatment Plan, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. Medicare rebates are currently $92.90* per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. You will need to pay the full appointment fee at the time of your appointment, and we can process your Medicare rebate through HICAPS.

If you have private health insurance, you may be eligible for a rebate under your Extras cover. You will need to check with your private health insurer as entitlements differ across plans and providers and can change over time. If your private health insurer is registered with HICAPS, we can process your rebate when you pay for your session.

Note that it is not possible to claim both private health and Medicare for the one appointment.

* Please note that the Medicare rebate amount may differ according to individual circumstances. Please contact Medicare for any questions.

Payment

Payment is required at the time of your appointment via EFTPOS. Unfortunately, we will not accept cash payments or payment via Diners or American Express.

For NDIS participants:

•  with self-managed funds, you will be required to make payment at the time of your appointment.
•  with NDIA-managed funds, your fees will be claimed from the portal after your appointment.
•  with plan-managed funds, your Plan Manager will be invoiced within 30 days of your appointment.

Cancellation Policy

We would prefer at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to make any changes to your appointment. If you cancel your appointment with less than 1 full business days’ notice or fail to attend an appointment without notice, you will be charged the full fee. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and we ask that you provide reasonable attempts to notify us as soon as practicable if you are unable to attend your appointment.

If attendance becomes an ongoing difficulty for you, we will discuss with you the frequency of your appointment schedule.
