Frida working hard at Sciacca Accounting, Woolloongabba.
Frida was losing hope she would ever find stable employment after mental illness left her unemployed for four years.
“I hadn’t been working for a couple of years; it’s been about four years since I’d quit my full time job and it had been a couple of years since I was diagnosed. There’s that break that you can’t explain to employers,” she said.
With the help of MAX Integrated Employment Services, Frida is back in the workforce with a new found sense of freedom.
Working in administration at Sciacca accountancy firm in Brisbane’s inner-city suburb of Woolloongabba for the last three months, Frida assists in tax preparation services.
“You just feel so much better knowing you’re supporting yourself,” she said.
MAX Integrated Employment Consultant Irena Novic said it was great to see a change in Frida’s well-being.
"Frida smiles more, and she’s more confident," she said.
Irena worked with Frida to sharpen her interviewing techniques and concentrated on her skill set which includes a degree in graphic design.
Frida enjoys working on tax assessments, which are coming in thick and fast now that it’s heading toward the end of financial year, as well as drafting letters to send on behalf of her employers who are thoroughly impressed with Frida’s work.
Frida says the best gift Irena gave her was the ability to believe in herself.
“Don’t give up, believe in yourself and don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
